Gas Leak Delays Traffic
By 250 News
Traffic was tied up this afternoon on Highway 16 West, near Purdue East Road, while a gas leak was repaired.
Dean Pelkey, Media Relations Manager for Terasen, says there is construction in the area and a contractor hit a 2” plastic pipe carrying natural gas. The fire department stopped traffic, says Pelkey, while Terasen workers got the gas leak under control, which took about 45 minutes. Immediate repairs were completed by 3:30, says Pelkey, but 39 homes and businesses in the area are still without gas, as it had to be shut off in the area. Once gas service is restored, Terasen workers will visit each customer to make sure everything is working and to relight appliances, says Pelkey.
