Fastpitch Championship A Home Run: One Man's Opinion
By Ben Meisner
For anyone who has ever played in sports, you must take your hat off and take a bow this week in honor of the Prince George Black Bears
They earned a silver medal at the Canadian Senior Men’s fast pitch held here last week. They were beaten by last year’s champs, but not before the game went into the 9th inning.
The final score was St Thomas 4 to Black Bears 3, but believe me it could have just as easily been the other way.
There were a number of innings in regulation time in which the Prince George squad was one swing away from being crowned the champs.
It is tough enough to make it onto the page however, much less to be able to say that you earned silver and our boys did themselves very very proud.
For the organizers of the event, you did a job that can only be described as superlative. There can be no one who came from out of town and didn’t leave saying this was a great spot for the championship. The credit however goes to the people who believed they could pull the event off and set about to do it.
I for one am very proud of what you did by not only putting PG on the map as a fast pitch hot bed in Canada, but the way in which the event ran so smoothly.
You men and women are a credit to this city.
I’m Meisner and that is one man’s opinion.
