Skip the plan for a back yard marshmallow roast,  cross off your to-do list the sweeping of the patio or sidewalk.

There is an air quality advisory in effect in Prince George.

The Ministry is pointing the finger at fine particulate matter.

While all all residents should be aware of  the  dangers of the high levels of fine particulate,  it is especially important for anyone who suffers with any sort of breathing problem, or heart disease.

The Air Quality objective for PM10 is 50 µg/m3 for a 24-hour average.  At 8 this morning, the level had  hit 89.

When there is an air quality advisory in effect,  wood burning  and street sweeping are banned.

The Ministry of the Environment expects the advisory will be in effect for two days because of the weather system that has settled in to the region.

Lets make all the politicians come and live in this stuff and see how long it takes to do something.
There would be no studies I bet.
Mind you they may debate it over a lot, and that would be ok too as the wind currents created would blow it all away.....
Yes, they can generate enormous amounts of hot air, those politician windbags!

Living in the Hart sure has its advantages!

Air pollution is usually minimal, unless there is a lot of slash burning or woodstoves going on.

It is a beautiful day in heritage off Foothills. Clear sky, light winds, wonderful day to sit outside and breathe in the fresh air.

Can't wait to buy some of that wonderful property coming up for sale on the Fraser River Bench.

Noon saw the BCR hit 102 which means the hourly rates have been in the upper hundred, if not 200 range, early this morning. Even Gladstone is at 38. So the Bench below will likely have hit a 100 index sometime in the morning.

Sometimes I wonder whether those putting such proposals together have been affected by the lack of oxygen. We have so much land in this city, why on earth would someone want to develop or live that close to what will continue to be industrial land for decades to come?
Damn you, particulate matter.....
What a pile of crap. They always make it sound like it's dust or something relatively benign. Well guess what... WE HAVE THE SECOND WORST AIR QUALITY IN CANADA AND IT ISN'T BECAUSE OF F#$@%ING DUST!!!!

The City seems to like to target smog from vehicles or wood burning stoves, but for some rea$son, ignores:

- we have 3 pulp mills
- we have an oil refinery
- we have two major chemical plants with emission permits that allow for the expulsion of sulfur-dioxide SO2.

Is it any wonder that although we don’t qualify for a Cancer Clinic in PG based on population, we do qualify on the basis of the number of cancer cases in the region i.e. we live in the second worst air shed in Canada that mysteriously is also a cancer cluster region… hmmmm.
Don't politicians usually blame something for everything even if it really isn't the true culprit.
I believe none of what they tell me.
And very little of what they show me.
If I think they have been telling me falsehoods then I have the option to show them how I feel come election time.....
I just wish once we could get someone to run and tell us the truth...
here is my platform....
I am going to lie to you every chance I get.
I am going to tax you until you scream and then fine you for excessive noise.
I will take as many holidays at taxpayer expense as I can.
I will make sure I am never in my office when you call and will never return email or letters until I feel like it, and that may be never.
I will blame others for my short commings.
Vote for me!
