Prince George City Council has approved a development permit variance for the Sandman Hotel planned for  Highways 16 and 97.  The variance would allow the building to be a little higher than the usual  to allow for one roof line.

The Hotel complex will also allow for two restaurants, one of which will be a Denny's.  Council has been reassured the existing Denny's on Highway 97 near 15th Avenue would be maintained.

Council also approved the rezoning for two properties on Ferry Avenue for the development of apartment buildings,  The two buildings would be three stories high.

A reezoning was also approved for a site at Chief Lake Road and the Hart Highway. That site was a former sporting goods store, and is currently a gun repair shop. The rezoning will allow the site to be developed as a restaurant and truck stop.

It was the rezoning for a City owned property on Domano that caused the biggest stir.  A neighbour says the development (strata townhouse condos) is, in his mind, row housing.  One resident says he currently enjoys wildlife in the yard, and that will change.  "I will lose" Craig Neilson told Council, "Either through property value, life style or having to sell my property, I am sure I will lose."  Neilson has lived next door to the property in question for 16 years.

Mayor Kinsley advised Neilson  that  being involved in the development permit process would be the best route to ensure his concerns would be addressed.  The third reading was approved.

I think Craig is miffed that he might have to walk his dog a little farther afield for it to poop. That's the main reason people beside greenbelts get testy when developers nose around in their neighbourhoods. Correct me if I am wrong.
i just love to hear from people who say "when I bought the place my real estate agent said it would be green for ever!" or.... "that only houses like mine would be allowed to be built there"... or any of the other naieve claims of neighboring residents.

The typical tired restaurants/truck stops and motels. The same visionaries for revitalization at work again.Typical Prince George..SSDD
Harbinger your wrong...the rest of your statement isn't even worth a response
