The City of Prince George expects to start a dangerous goods transportation study soon.  "We have all the building blocks in place" says Glenn Stanker,   Transportation Engineer with the City.

Stanker says plenty of reports had to be done before they could move on developing a dangerous goods route. "We have already completed a general trasnportation study,  and reports on cycle and pedestrian traffic, identified the collision hot spots throughout the City and we have a report on Downtown traffic."   Stanker says all of the studies have impact on developing a dangerous goods route.

"One of the reports we needed to wait for was the  storm management plan"  That report  is necessary says Stanker because in the event of a roll over of dangerous chemicals you need to know the chemicals will not find their way into wells or  the rivers.

Now with all the blocks in place he says  the City can take the next step which would be to put out a call for a request for proposals. "This will be a highly technical,  very sophisiticated study" says Stanker.  Although City staff are qualified and could do the work, he says City Staff are very busy keeping up with the day to day business.

The City has budgeted $60,000 for the Dangerous Goods Transportation study.

Studies....studies......studies, forget the studies! Just do it! Will save money in the long run.
And no matter which route that they pick, or at least any of the existing routes, through town puts them right in the middle of the city.
Think about it.... 97 goes right through town
16 joins 97 and goes north or onto Victoria Street and right through town.
16 East the same thing.
We literally need a road that bypasses PG.
Can't see that happening......
As for the study budget.... add another 1 to the front of the study budget and we will still be where we are now...
So, city staff are qualified and could do the job, but better to pay an outside firm $60,000.00 to do a study!
So all the building blocks are in place-well then is th job not near completion.
When all my ducks are in a row-I conside the puzzle pieces in place mentally.
I think we should fire the whole damn lot at city hall and start over.
Might as well.
They never get a job done anyhow-so maybe some newcomers would have more initiative and be capable of starting and finishing a project?
Does it not sound pretty stupid when they have everything in place, and too busy to complete.
Something radically wrong at the Prince George city hall and the staff, but just watch the Mayor and Council approve the need of a study!!
Spend, spend, spend, so we can pay, pay, pay.
They have no conscience!
Forget studies...bulldoze those damn weigh scales in the BCR and get traffic moving again out south.
Rebuild the bridge on the existing piers to get traffic flowing again that direction.
And repair the damn potholes.

There i gave you a report free of charge City of PG....maybe mayor Kinsley can buy me a beer and plate of wings sometime.
Its still the cheapest and likely best report they have ever gotten down there at cityhall.
careful what you wish for Marty...lol
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit! Who cares?
Gofaster.....you are likely correct.
I may actually have to sit through a meal with Kinsley, trying to decipher what he actually says.
Anyone able to lend me a Gibberish to English Dictionary?????
A study is only a way to defer the responsibility from the city to another authority who cares little about responsibility.
