The City of Prince George Bylaw Enforcement department continues to look for the owner of a Black Angus cow and calf that were both struck and killed on Foothills Boulevard, about midway between the North Nechako Road and Highland Drive on Tuesday night.

City officials say the cow and calf remain unidentified but their remains were picked up by the utilities department and removed from the crash scene around noon on Wednesday.

RCMP say no one has stepped forward to say they were in collision with the two animals.

The crash took place at an unusual place for domestic cows to be.

Police say that while you can leave the scene of an accident for example if you hit a pole or go into the ditch and roll over, you can’t leave the scene if a pedestrian has been hit and you can’t leave the scene under the traffic act if a cow has been hit and killed.

The City's By-law department is making an effort to identify the owners of the animals, but so far, no luck.

Anyone missing their beef should get in contact with the City of Prince George By-law department.

'...remooooved from the crash scene around noon on Wednesday.'

Cow and calf remain unidentified? Hmmmm? No drivers license in the "cowhide" wallet on the cow? Bummer! A very moooving story. It really is "ground beef" now.
Oh, yeah. I have an alibi. I was e
I have an alibi (before I was so interupted), yeah, I was at Denny's eating a "tofu burger". Yeah. That's the ticket. I was there at the time of these cows unfortunate incident.
Sure startled me when I drove around the corner in the mist & rain early Wed. morning and went past the 2 bodies!
Monday morning there was a live cow walking through the intersection of Ness Lake/Reid Lake roads at 6 am....then Wed. these 2 bodies...getting so I'm seeing cows everywhere on the way to work.
More Solid Waste for the Cemetary guy to mooove.
Lol
Get the yanks up here...they managed to identify all the terroists involved with 9-11 and they had no id either...
I cannot believe the "sick" so called humor displayed on this site.
There is a major problem with many in our society.
No compassion for that cow and calf struck and killed- Did they suffer before they died?
No compassion for the owner of the animals, who was probably hunting for them.
The people posting seem to enjoy anything which would make an ordinary human feel badly over an incident.
Is it any wonder our S P C A has to "kill" so many animals every year?
The attitude of many Prince George residents absolutely sickens me.
They say "what goes around, comes around."
May the good Lord make it happen.
These people deserve little mercy in their lives.
If the farmer was aware of the going on within the fence of his farm,or outside of it, the farmer would have been noticed the livestock missing a long time ago.
So much for diligence.....
Doesn't sound like SPCA is involved in this one.

I guess it is a good idea if you hit something don't move.....
I honestly didn't know that if you killed a cow with your vehicle you couldn't move your vehicle.
So today I learned something new.
Condolences to the family of the cow and calf.
When I was traveling to work on monday morning around 5 a.m. the cattle were by the north scales near hoffercamp road.
Trusted - I suspect the owner of the beef is fully aware... did you know they are legally liable for damages from thier animals being loose? They are probably quiet for a reason.
Get it together interceptor?
It is my understanding the vehicle that struck the animals is unknown-so must have had no damage done to it.
Nver heard of a claim for damages from an animal being killed?
Have you?

Check the papers-I recall reading an ad whereby the owner was looking for a cow and calf.
And as for the mention of the S P C A, it was meant to bring to the publics attention the callous attitude the residents have towards all animals well being and compassion for.
And this site may be entertainment in your mind, Spanky, so it is certainly too bad you are not capable of posting anything that is entertaining.
Small things amuse small minds.
Personally I think you are in need of help-as you appear to be mentally challenged.
Some day you will realize that "sick" humor is just that, "sick" humor-and entertains only those with the same affliction as yourself-which is in the minority.
Have a nice day!
Actually people buy insurance for this very reason. This is from an insurance site:

Cattle which Stray Onto Highways and Cause Accidents

"Farmers must ensure that the fences and gates which contain their cattle are properly maintained and effective in keeping the cattle off the road. The courts have stated that there is a foreseeable risk of accident to motor traffic on the highway if cattle are on it unattended. Accordingly, the owner of cattle can be held negligent if his cattle stray onto the highway and an accident results. Thus, to avoid being held liable for negligence, much more care must be taken by the farmer who keeps cattle in an enclosure bordering on a major highway than upon a little travelled road in a sparsely settled district. Corresponding to this is the positive or active duty which the courts place upon a farmer to reasonably inspect and maintain the means used to contain his cattle.

In one case, a ranch turned 19 yearling bulls into a field adjacent to a highway. The field's fences, which were 70 years old, were checked and tightened. A few days later the bulls escaped after a corner post broke. At night, the driver of a car stuck one of the bulls. The driver brought an action in negligence for damages against the ranch. The Court found the ranch negligent in failing to ensure that the fence was adequate."

I know its a long read, lol - but all I am saying is the farmer COULD be held liable for damages or injuries. It just might be enough of a reason for someone to keep quiet.
Small thinga amuse small minds. And smaller minds notice. I think that is how it goes.
I have to agree with "toasted". You guys stop making fun about dead cattle or I'll tattle.
You guys think it's funny to kill beef, think of the farmer's grief. Hopefully the animals didn't suffer, it couldn't have been any rougher. It's gotta be hard to bid adieu to your favorite moo. If you're as compassionate as you say you are, you would have performed CPR. One minute, they're hell-bent for leather, cattle on the trail, the next minute, they're hell-bent, leather, steak on the road. I can't imagine the fears, felt by these steers, or how it would feel to lose your next meal.
So you guys quit being so baa-aa-aa-aaad.
I gotta go or I'm gonna quack up !
Another "sicko" surfaces!
I'll take that as a compliment, if you take your medication.
