Forest Firefighters from the Prince George Fire Centre are among the 120 B.C. forest firefighters sent to Quebec to help battle lightning-caused fires in that province.
Forests and Range Minister Rich Coleman says “Thanks to cooler weather and the fire smarts shown by British Columbians so far this season, we are able to provide some help to Quebec right now. We know our crews will be greatly appreciated, and our best wishes go with them.”
B.C. Forest Service personnel sent to Quebec include specialists and 35 three-person initial-attack crews from the Prince George, Kamloops, Coastal, Southeast, Northwest, and Cariboo fire centres.
Cool, wet weather over the past week has lowered the fire danger rating across the Prince George region to a very-low-to-moderate range. There arestill enough personnel left behind to look after things should fires flare up here at home.
