School District 57 Trustees will look at giving themselves a raise at the next meeting of the Board which is set for October 10th.

The motion to be  presented would see the Chair’s  salary increased to $17,000  a year, the Vice Chair’s salary would be increased to $15,500 and the Trustees would each get $14,000.

The increase viewed as an effort to bring Trustee salary’s and expenses  more in line with other elected officials along the same lines of municipal government.

Sure! 'More dough from the taxpayer. Maybe all the taxpayers can drop off their wallets at the next school board meeting. The trustees can empty them, then mail them back to the taxpayers, postage due. What a scam! Money, money, money. It's rich mans game.
Some on the board are already dipping in the public trough pretty good. Lois is getting a gold plated government MLA pension. Nice work if you don't have a conscience.
OK, so now that they are done cutting all the programs and closing all the schools, they have the ability to spend money on more important things like paying themselves better. Seems like these government positions are the only ones that see regular pay hikes.
How come you never see them taking decreases, and proclaiming, "This is to bring us more in line with the average schmo, who is waiting for payday so he can buy groceries again."

It is always some higher paying position that they have to bring themselves more in line with. It's not for the money, it's something they have to do. They can't not be in line with that higher paying position, it wouldn't be right.
It would have been nice to know what they're being increased from.
Of course they do!
