Economic Group Gets Provincial Funding
By 250 News
The 16-97 Alliance has picked up $50 thousand dollars in funding from the Provincial government.
The funds will be matched by another $50 thousand from regional and local economic development groups.
The Alliance will use the money to develop plans to go after economic development opportunities that will benefit the region rather than have regional neighbours competing for the same project. The focus they say, is on growing the economic pie rather than just grabbing a slice.
There are 22 participating organizations and communities taking part in the 16-97 Alliance. They include: local and regional governments, First Nations, Aboriginal
organizations, local economic development agencies, UNBC, the College of New Caledonia, Community Futures organizations, the Innovation Resource Centre, industry associations and businesses. The Alliance has formed a Steering Committee which will act as an interim management committee to ensure the plan set forward is achieved.
The Alliance is the fourth of its kind in the province under the Regional Economic Alliance initiative.
