The  Provincial Ministry of Transportation is expected to make an announcement soon, possibly as early as today, about the twinning of the Simon Fraser Bridge.

It has been nearly three weeks since Opinion 250 revealed the lowest bid for the project was $15 million dollars over the budget.  The budget is $32.5 million, the lowest bid, submitted by Peter Kiewit & Sons Limited, was $47,964,290.00  The project manager, Tony Bennett, didn’t expect there would be a decision on the matter before the end the end of October.

The twinning of the bridge and the  improvements to the Queensway interchange were to be complete by the fall of 2009. Property has already been expropriated for the  project which was part of the larger "Cariboo Connector" plan.

That plan involves the four laning of several sections of highway 97 between Prince George and Cache Creek.  The  construction of a new weigh scale in Red Rock is also part of the  Cariboo Connector plan..

I feel that Campbell and his government are going to pull the plug on the bridge and try and passify us with a new paint job on the bridge or some sort of other foolishness...

maybe this would be a good time to look at an alternate route and build a city bypass?
Maybe the bridge will be cancelled so that the Mayor can get the money for the Cameron Street Bridge. The Provincial government can not give the City money for two bridges and the Mayor is pushing for the Cameron Street.
Oh I somehow doubt that...
When will everybody get it.... All the money is staying south for some "Party" in 2010.
