The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is expected to give final approval to a bylaw that will allow it to borrow up to $1.5 million dollars.

The bylaw was the subject of an "Alternate Approval Process" which calls for 10% of the  qualified  voters in the Regional District to officially register their  opposition in order to force a referendum.

The matter didn't garner action from 10% of the  qualified voters, (that would mean 7,717 valid signatures) in fact, it barely garnered 10 qualified signatures!.

Throughout the  regional district, there were all of 6  valid  objections from people from Prince George  and there were four valid objections from Mackenzie.  Two objections from Valemount  were rejected as not being eligible.

The results mean, the Regional District now has the  ability to go ahead and borrow up to $1.5 million to buy Exploration Place.   The money is to be re-paid over a period "not to exceed 20 years."

The matter is expected to be  given final approval at the next Regional District meeting which is set for Thursday October 19th.

The regional district kept this really quiet...the only place I heard about this was on opinion 250...
good ploy...if people don't write and complain they get their wishes.....
going to have to see who the directors are...and find out how to vote their butts out!
Actually it was in the newspaper both as an AD and in two different articles. It was also on the web site for the regional district as well. It was brought up at city council also.

So no secret that I know of.
What is Exploration place? The art gallery or museum???
Yama,

its the Museum by fort george park.
Who owns it now and why does the ownership of it have to change? Chester
