Raves, the all night dance party. Drinks, and possibly drugs. So what to do? Councilor Brian Skakun wants City Staff to do some research to see if there is any way the City can regulate late night licenses in order to have some control on what happens. There is a fear banning the raves would drive them underground. Councilor Brian Skakun put forth a motion that would direct administration to bring back a report on Raves and what other cities are doing with respext to controlling them.
Mayor Colin Kinsley says:
"What concerns me is that we have got to quit reacting to letters to the editor" that sparked a response from Councilor Skakun who told the Mayor he was taking offense . The Mayor responded with "that's fine you have a right to be offended, but what I have in front of me is a letter to the Editor...." at which point he turned off Councilor Skakun's microphone guaranteeing there would be no further discussion on that angle.
Despite the move, the Councilors unanimously approved the motion.
