Women’s Running Clinic
Smiles all around, the most popular running clinic in Prince George is done for another year. Seven weeks ago 80 women began the journey to discover what lies within under the tutelage of experienced runners. The Soul Sisters All Women’s Running Clinic, hosted by Stride & Glide Sports, attracted young moms, mothers, daughters - women of all ages. Divided into five groups, from beginner to advanced runners, the clinic prescribes to the theory no one size fits all.
“The clinic is structured so you can be successful at any level,” said instructor Sue MacDonald.
No one gets left behind in this running experience. Encouragement is contagious as instructors and runners build relationships while providing a support network.
Apprehension is natural when trying something for the first time, but that anxiety quickly vanished for Judy Price and Evelyn Dubois who embraced their very first running clinic.
“Seven weeks ago there is no way I could do this final run,” said Judy Price. “There’s such encouragement between all levels.”
Dubois smiled when asked what she knew about running before the clinic. “Not a stitch,” she said. “I learned about proper equipment and taking baby steps when learning a new sport.”
“They push you to achieve your goals,” said Joni Penko, who steadily improved through the clinic which included tips on running trails, road, track and tread mills.
The just completed Souls Sisters running clinic was sold-out within a week. Expect another excellent response to their next clinic in the spring, after all lifestyle changes can be fun.
