Storm Knocks out Power to Downtown

The John Hart Bridge  just minutes before Lightening left downtown in the dark.


A lightening strike is being blamed for a major power outage  in downtown Prince George yesterday afternoon.  The lights went out around 2:40, knocking out power to 1400 customers in the downtown area and along Patricia Boulevard.  The lights were back on to most customers around 4.

The storm hit with a vengeance with virtually no time lag betwen lightening and cracks of thunder.

July 2005 is one of the wettest July's Prince George has seen in a long time. The normal rainfall for the entire month is 63.5 mm  As of the 18th and not counting the storm yesterday, Prince George has already received 69.2 mm of rain.  Daily temperatures are cooler than they should be. 

The forecast  for the next couple of days is:  cloudy with  possible showers.

Most people living in Prince George like to be left in the dark anyhow, so an hour or so of no lights probably was not even noticed. Just a joke!!! Well, maybe not!!!
