PG Connection to World Hockey Challenge

Canada West will skate into the inaugural World Junior A Hockey Challenge with a perfect 3-0 exhibition record. The Canada West select team from the BCHL, SJHL and AJHL outscored the opposition 27-2, including a 4-0 victory over Slovakia and 11-2 pasting of Germany. Prince George Spruce Kings defenseman Ryan de Vries is one of nine BC Hockey League players on the Canada West roster. de Vries from Smithers, is cousin to former Prince George Cougar Dan Hamhuis of the Nashville Predators.
Prince George Sports Hall of Famer, Darcy Rota, is the director of hockey operations for Canada West.
The six team tournament is broken into two three team pools. Canada West goes against Russia November 6 in Yorkton Saskatchewan and Belarus November 8 in Humboldt Saskatchewan. Playoffs begin November 9th.
