The mid-term American elections resulted in something that hasn’t happened since Viet Namthe public moved off the traditional meat and potatoes issues and smote President Bush a mighty blow over foreign policy or, perhaps the lack of a coherent one.
It’s interesting to contemplate how Congress will make it’s presence known. On this issue for at the risk of repeating myself I must observe that Bush is like Bre’r Rabbitt and the tar baby – he’s stuck.
It truly amazes me how major powers can be so damned stupid as to get themselves in foreign countries without an exit strategy – the US in Viet Nam, Iraq and Afghanistan, the Russians in Eastern Europe and Afghanistan.
Bush is damned lucky that in 2004 he did have a majority in the House or he surely would be facing impeachment proceedings, especially after he lied in stating as a fact, that Saddam Hussein was getting yellow cake, an essential element in the construction of nuclear weapons, from Niger. Because Bush only has two years to go, for practical purposes he’s free from the threat of impeachment … meaning he can continue to act as he pleases and ignore Congress and the Supreme Court.
Here’s a man who cheated to win in 2000, was asleep at the switch at 9/11, has bungled into an unwinnable war, has sanctioned torture of prisoners and now hasn’t the faintest idea how to get out of Afghanistan and Iraq.
And he has two more years to go.
God, and I mean this literally, help us!

Dont forget the 51 Million people who voted for him. They have to take some responsibility. Of course they wont. Nor will any of his executive branch buddies.

Colin Powell. Shamed and gone.

Wolfowitz. Hiding out in the WTO or someplace, pretending that his hands are clean.

Rumsfeld. He'll go on a speaking tour, and blame everyone but himself for this fiasco.

Dick Cheney. A big mouth bass that has now been caught, cleaned, and fillet. All we will hear from him in the next few years is the hum of his pacemaker.

Condy Rice. A hardcore barroom hussy, who will disapear into the sunset never to be heard from again.

George Dubbya Bush. He has now been told by his Father, and the Big Boys in the back room that his heydays are over. He will have to become mister nice guy, so that they have some kind of a shot at the next election, and also to avoid being impeached. This guy was a lame duck President when he was first elected, however nobody bothered to tell him so. Goodbye George.
Pal, the man will still have veto power for the next two years. He may cause more problems and hopefully Canadian soldiers will not be called on again to try to mop up the messes that he leaves behind.
