Police Say, Stay Off Roads

Police are asking people to stay at home as the highway winds continue to hit the area.

 Police said at 2.15 p.m. Sunday ,  that there are numerous hazards in the city and the rural area caused by the high winds.

 Police have been called to a number of traffic hazards caused by the high winds; there are many reports of trees across the road, hydro wires are down, and pieces of structures on the roadways.

 Traffic on highway 16 east at Geddes road was restored at 2.20 p.m., however just the moment that was removed highway 97 south of Clapperton has been closed because of a fallen tree.

 On Cummings road a tree is hung up on the power lines. At Giscome and Sommerville the road is blocked by power lines. There are in addition numerous traffic hazards. Once again police say unless you have an urgent need to travel , don't
