No log cabin this time!  The Premier has unveiled the design for the BC -Canada Place pavilion that will be built in Beijing in time for the 2008 Summer Olympics:

It will be built in the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall, at the city centre near the Forbidden City and the Great Hall of the People.

The pavilion's design will feature a series of wood arcs representing B.C.'s key industry,  and each arc will represent  one of the 10 provinces and three territories.

Perforated zinc and aluminum between the arcs will shine at night, representing the vastness of Canada stretching from coast to coast.

The pavilion's external element was created by B.C. architect Bing Thom and will incorporate the use of existing space within the 21,000 square foot Exhibition Hall. The pavilion will operate from May to September 2008.

Looks like they are cantilevered from opposing sides ..... looks like they will not fit into those empty containers returning to China ....

Looks good ..... 50 year old technology ... some still hidden in the structure of the present Prince George bingo hall which covers up the old style Safeway stores ..... we'll be able to see them again when they tear that building down to make way for the RCMP station .... unless of course someone tries to declare it as a heritage building ....

;-)
Awesome! Waste of money
