Mackenzie RCMP says the identity of a middle aged man killed in a sawmill accident at Abitibi’s sawmill in Mackenzie is being withheld at the request of the family.
He died Wednesday morning in Mackenzie from injuries he suffered in the mishap.
Meantime in a second accident 53 year old Daniel Albert Heck was killed while doing maintenance work on a processor being used to cut limbs from logged timber. The accident occurred about 130 kilometers north of Mackenzie near the Finlay Forest Road. The logging contractor, DWB logging, stopped all harvesting and hauling following the accident. Heck was trying to fix a processor when it started up, and Heck was crushed by the processor’s arms.
WorkSafe BC is investigating both deaths.
