Getting Their Kicks

Prince George Roll-a-dome home to BC Indoor Soccer League
From October to mid-April the shift is indoors for Prince George soccer players. The well-established BC Indoor Soccer League attracts men, women, co-ed and masters teams to the six aside game, all under the roof of the Prince George Roll-a-dome.
“We try not to turn players away,” Allison Bogle, president of the BCISL said. Adding the indoor league has pretty well reached its player capacity.
The indoor soccer game is about speed, ball control and quick decisions in confined quarters.
“It is totally a different game than outside soccer,” Bogle said.
The indoor partner to the most popular outdoor sport in Prince George is well represented by women and men who compete with the elements during a summer of soccer.
Players shuffle on and off the floor like hockey players changing lines on the fly. The continuous action of indoor soccer escalates the importance of the goalkeeper.
“I prefer the indoor game over outdoor soccer,” goalie Becca Snyder said.
“Your much busier over forty minutes, the game is constantly going.”
The Roll-a-dome has been a good home for the BC Indoor Soccer League, but the need for more space may leave the executive looking towards the Charles Jago Northern Sports Centre, scheduled to open next fall.
In the meantime, a busy league schedule and future tournaments will keep organizers focused on the 06’-07’ season.
“Come April I can’t wait to get outside and kick long balls,” Allison Bogle said.
