L-E-H Spells LOSER for Many

It's that time again when the phone rings off the hook as people call to tell me how the limited entry draw always forgets them.

I recall each and every year putting John Thornton (who is in charge of that section of the Ministry) on the air to listen to the various beefs from people who didn’t get drawn once again while their friend down the street has been a winner for the third time in a row.

Thornton always seemed to be able to come up with reason after reason as to why they didn’t get the nod. In my case this year its simply because I didn’t make an entry so I can’t sit here and complain. It's a different story for my co-worker Shane Redlick.  Shane says even though he put in for a draw about 200 miles away from Mackenzie back in the boonies where the odds were supposed to be in his favour, no such luck! Shane won't be going hunting this fall.

Well that seems standard practice as someone on the street or from your hunting fraternity will gleefully tell you how they got drawn again about six miles out of PG. Thorton says the odds of that happening year in year out are pretty rare and he dose know his statistics .

For those who find themselves holding their hand out with no luck, talk to Thornton.  He is in the Ministry. I asked one time if when the computer that makes the draws hits the name Ben Meisner, little lights go off and it makes a funny sound, like forget it bud? He said, no sir ….. "It’s just the  luck of the draw."

Once again nothing for me. I spoke with a buddy of mine who told me his wife, grandson and himself picked up LEH's this year as they did last year. Lucky them.
