The Prince George Cougars have announced that Prab Rai has left the team and returned home to await a trade.
Rai and his family came to a decision to leave the Cougars as they were unhappy with the amount of ice time the 2nd year forward was receiving.
“It is our philosophy that a player earns ice time, and it’s not an entitlement. We felt Prab was doing a good job and progressing well. We feel this is an unfortunate situation”, states Cougars GM Dallas Thompson.

Now, how do we get the rest of the team to leave?
Don't give 'em any ice time.

Seriously, if we got behind this team and the community started buying tickets we'd see a turn around. Good players wouldn't mind playing here and wins and play-off success would inevitably follow. It's like a kid who's struggling in school. You don't ignore him and expect him to just start getting "A's". You wrap some support around him and look for coaching moments and learning options. I think Cougars fans, or the lack thereof, are like lousy parents who ignore their kids. If we invest the time and $$$ into this team they'll win.
Win, win...heck I would just for once like to hear they played hockey...not performed WWE on ice.
Gee steeliepete, you any relation to the brodsky's by chance..'invest the time and money' i think we did this for the 1st 6 years they were here.
I dont have any problem with Hockey Fans buying tickets and supporting the Cougers, however I dislike the implication that I or any other Citizen of this town who dont give a hoot about hockey or who plays it should by a ticket or support the team.

I dont hear this kind of whining from Golfers, Soccer Players, Baseball Players, etc; or even from the Spruce Kings for that matter. The bottom line is that there never was 5000 hard core hockey fans in Prince George to support this team, and probably there never will be.

If they hadnt brought this team to Prince George we wouldnt have this problem. Just another example of the City of Prince George thinking its much bigger than it actually is.

I said it before and I will say it again. Every time there is a Cougers game in Prince George, you can be gauranteed that a least 72000 people will not attend, and could care less who wins. Thats the way it is.

Contrary to popular beleif, this is not a hockey town,
I would support them but I can't stand the violence in hockey and so I don't even watch on TV!
I have no probelm with there being fans of the cougars...go fans...
I would just like to see "HOCKEY" in general cleaned up.
Because fighting has been condoned there are more and more fights.
Rules say no fighting but it seems the teams hire players strickly to be fighters.
That in my opinion is a sad state of affairs.

Clean it up and maybe there might be 5001 fans....

If I want to see a fight I will buy a ticket for it.

But all you ????hockey???? fans go out by all means and get your fill.... I have no intentions of trying to convince you not to go...
A few years ago a first round bantam pick of the Cougars named Travis Eagles was here to play hockey. The only thing management wanted him to do was fight. He was a big kid, 6 foot 6, but he didn't want to fight. They cut his ice time also and he ended up leaving and going to Brandon.

Prab Rai was one of the nicest young men you would ever meet, and probably one of the best skaters this team has ever seen. When your ice time is cut to six shifts one game and one shift the next what do these people expect. No one wants to be here. I don't blame them.
Me either...
I think this team is to focused on their top 2 lines and lose sight of younger talent that wants to play and has the skill to play and deliver that this level.

In pre season Rai was playing the 1st line and had 6 points but once the season started and players returned from NHL camps the was down to the 3rd line and then the 4th line.

The fact is these kids are playing becuase they want to make the NHL. Your not going to make the NHL sitting on the bench. From what I have read it woudl appear that Rai talked to the GM and raised his concern and he has been working hard in practice and still there was no change. So the GM can say that "you have to earn ice time" but what does that mean he talked to the GM he worked hard in pratice what else was required? Did they give Rai direction on what was required to get more ice time? Doesn't seem like it.
I think it is all about the dollars...
Win if you must and you must win...

and if it means hurting the other team so be it....

if you are able to play on the first line you play, if you are on the second line you play if your team is winning or they need you to replace an injured or sick player...if you are not there you sit for most of your time.....so they leave....and so they should....

my thoughts...
