Ron Colebank says “The season may be over but we got our guns back."  He was referring to the seizure of six rifles by an RCMP Constable in Telegraph Creek who said the guns had not been properly registered.

Colebank says the guns were returned largely through the efforts of The RCMP Sub Division Headquarters in the city.

Colebank, his wife along with Fred Hoefels, his wife and George Neudorf had just returned from a river boat trip down the Stikine when they were approached by a man who identified himself as a police officer. He later returned and seized all of the rifles that the group had with them.

The matter has been before various authorities until this past weekend when the constable in question returned the guns to the local police office.

Colebank, speaking on behalf of the group says, "I’m just happy that’s oveR."

The matter of the registering rifles has been under a federal government one year amnesty.
