Dear Mr. Mayor...

It was recently reported that Prince George Mayor Colin Kinsley had written to Canada Post protesting the closing of the Barkerville Post Office east of Quesnel. It is rather interesting to see the Mayor is trying to intercede in a federal problem. Now isn’t *** Harris the MP for the region in question? Would it not have been more appropriate for Harris, who was elected to represent that region, to have been the person who would carry the torch? But then perhaps Mayor Kinsley feels he wants to expand his horizons. Would it then not be appropriate for the people of the Millar Addition – Connaught Hill area to call upon the Mayor of Barkerville to help them in their dispute with the city and province over the location of a homeless shelter in their area? Maybe we could also call upon Barkerville’s Mayor to speak to the City of Prince George’s Engineer with a view to getting the pot holes fixed in this city. Finally, did Mayor Kinsley write the appropriate authorities when, for example, the Land Tiles office was closed and people were laid off in this city? Did it not also provide an important service to the people in this region? I seem to recall, Mayor Kinsley was given a specific message from City Councilors and voters to carry to Victoria about B.C. Rail, but THAT message must have been “lost in the mail”. Perhaps it slipped through the hands of some postal worker in Barkerville?
