Slip Slidin' Again

Snowfall brought on slick roads again in Prince George and there were a couple of accidents  which resulted in  road closures.

A 31 year old tow truck driver received minor injuries at around noon yesterday  in the 1600 block of Foreman Road, just off Highway 16 east between the Old Cariboo Highway and Blackburn Road.  The driver had stopped to  put the chains on his tires, when the truck slid on the compact icy snow.  As the truck slid off  the road  it slid on to the driver who was pinned in the snow.  He was able to flag down a passing motorist who called for emergency help.  The driver suffered  bruises to both legs, and possible frostbite to the back of his left leg.

A couple of hours later, there was a two vehicle crash at Winnipeg and 13th Avenue.  Roads were very slippery at the time. One car was  southbound on Winnipeg and turning westbound on to 13th.  The light changed to yellow and an oncoming vehicle was not able to stop safely in time and the two vehicles collided.  No one hurt, but traffic was blocked for a short period.  The driver making the left turn was issued a ticket for failing to yield.

We have this with dry roads....

I truly believe that 75% of the drivers out there this year have never seen or driven in snow before...
That or they are just idiots....
I would so much rather think the first idea....
BUT......
There should be a new sign posted on the merge lane by the Rolla Dome, turning toward College Heights. It should say it is illegal to stop! Then maybe drivers would merge like they are supposed to. Should have a cop there writing tickets for people that need to go back to driving school.

I saw a cop up on the bank by the Rolla Dome with a radar gun, with his back to the that intersection. Picking up a little Xmas money I guess.

Have you noticed how fast the little momma shopping cars are going right now? Sure seem to be lots of them all of a sudden.
Best place in town to make money fer the cops. Lots of accidents cause by speed at that intersection? I doubt it. Stopping before merging? There must be something in the Motor Vehicle Act about that. If not, the R.C.M.P. are losing out on a fortune. Even the city loses out now too!
