Matters of Trust: One Man's Opinion
By Ben Meisner
Tom Ellison, the teacher convicted on two counts of indecent assault, two counts of gross indecency, and one charge of common assault, is an example of a person who held a position of trust, taking advantage of that trust.
Regardless of whether the charges actually date back to the 70”s and 80”s and to a time when technically Ellison may yet slip under the radar because of the law at the time, he is guilty as hell.
There are very few young girls who at some point in their life while attending school, do not have a crush on their teacher.
Teachers know that.
Ellison went further, he planned his conquests with his victims down to some very fine details.
It was no "chance" that these young girls, age 16 and 17, just happened to be on his boat or in a tent; those events were a product of planning.
Now there are those who are now coming forward suggesting that Ellison really was a very good teacher a very good leader.
A very good teacher, a very good role model and a very understanding human being would not have gone out of his way to have sex with 12 of his students, plain and simple.
Trust is trust; a breach of that responsibility should carry all of the penalties with it.
I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.
