Coleman Warming to Private Land Clean Up Issue?

A little over a week ago, Provincial Minister of Forest and Range Rich Coleman, indicated there was no way the private property owners would get financial help to clear their land of mountain pine beetle dead trees.
He may be warming up to change that stand.
Late last week, he took part in a radio program in the lower mainland during which he hinted the idea of emergency funding may be visited. No promises.
The Mayor of Kamloops , Terry Lake, spoke with Federal Natural Resource Minister Gary Lunn late last week. Lake has been quoted as saying he has a glimmer of optimism that there will be some sort of funding for private property owners. He plans to talk with the Federal Minister again early in the New Year.
Meantime, here in Prince George, Mayor Colin Kinsley will make a report to Council tonight, outlining all of the contact and efforts that have been made to not only educate the federal government on the Mountain Pine Beetle crisis, but to get the government to offer some assistance.
