It was one slippery Sunday in Quesnel.
RCMP say they responded to a call about an accident on the Quesnel River Bridge around 10:15 in the morning. But by the time they arrived on the scene, no fewer than eleven vehicles were involved in the pile up.
No one seriously hurt.
Police say the road was icy at the time, and that was likely the major contributing factor.

There are exceptions, but I have observed that if you go slower you have fewer crashes. I would say a lot of accidents would not occur if people drove according to the road conditions, like the cops have been saying. That leads me to my next beef, in my humble opinion, Y.R.B. does not do a good enough job on our roads in the wintertime. I am referring to the highways, mainly. In town roads they look after seem o.k. I can understand taking a day or two to catch up after a major snowfall, on the side roads, but thay fall so far behind on the highways that it becomes ridiculous. These days there is one hell of a lot of traffic on the highways in all four directions, around the clock. I am often travelling on the highway at different hours of the evening and night/early morning, and more often than not, they do not have anyone out there plowing/grading/sanding. It almost seems like they don't start until 7 a.m. by then thousands of vehicles have travelled through the accumulated snow. I would like to hear from others on this topic. Am I the only one who is complaining about this? If so maybe I'll clam up.
