RDFFG Flood Report

There are bouquets to be handed out by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George to those who got up mighty early on November 28th when a sprinkler went off and caused flooding damage to the computer server room, and two floors of the Regional District building.
Fast action meant damage was minimized and the offices were only off limits to the general public for 24 hours.
In presenting his report to the Regional District Board, Jim Martin said there were thanks to go out to staff who responded quickly, to the City of Prince George for having its computer technicians ready and able to assist in making sure the computer server ware was spared and to the many who continue to work in displaced quarters.
In all, the damage total from the early morning flood is in the $1 million dollar mark. Of that, the Regional District will have to pay the $2,500 dollar deductible. Most of the damage was to drywall which wicked up the water from the floor.
While the Regional District building is open, staff have been moved to various areas until repairs can be done. The boardroom, where the Regional District meeting is normally held, is now home for several departments. The monthly meeting for the Board of Directors had to be held at the Ramada.
The final contracts for the repairs is expected to be awarded by the end of this week.
