Participation continued to climb in the annual Polar Bear Dip at Ness Lake. This was the sixth consecutive year the courageous jumped into the frigid waters of Ness Lake to raise funds for the Ness Lake Bible Camp.
“We have raised over $10,000 in six years,” said camp director Paul Bailey.
“That’s made it possible for 80 kids to attend bible camp.”
Icy cold water on bare skin is nasty but that did not deter an international visitor to dip into Ness Lake. Paul Drieduite of Rotterdam in Holland took the plunge for the first time.
“Two years ago I watched the Polar Bear Dip when visiting Prince George and thought those Canadians are crazy, now here I am,” laughed Drieduite.
Wearing the flag of his home country on his hat, the 36 year-old began the New Year with a splash.
“They come a long ways to get to the ice,” joked Paul Bailey.
