At least 635 homes are without power along the Nazko Highway as high winds continue to pound the Quesnel area tonight.

Police report that in addition to that area, they have been receiving numerous reports of power outages around the region due to the high winds.

Police in Quesnel want to thank everyone who had reported downed power lines in that region.

The outages are being addressed by the Quesnel area volunteer Fire Department, BC Hydro, and the RCMP.

A more detailed report on the extent of the power outages in that community is expected later tonight as BC Hydro attempts to get a grip on the extent of the damage and when its crews will be able to make repairsnot only in Quesnel, but through Prince George as well.
