A cement batch plant will go ahead in the Carter Light industrial park.

Prince George City Council has approved the plant which will allow for the storage of cement, b ut will not allow for the manufacturing of cement products. The development permit called for a height variance to the storage silo, increasing it from the 12 meter max to 16 meters.

The plant has addressed some of the concerns posed on the matters of noise and dust.

City staff say they are satisfied noise will be minimal as the plant is “air” operated and the only noise will come from the loader and two cement trucks. Dust will be minimal as aggregate will be “sprayed” with water, and the access to the site will be the paved section of Milwaukee Way.
