Hydrec Northern representative, Wendy Laluk, presents Cheque to Kyle Aben, the Red Cross Fund Development Co Ordinator.
The Canadian Red Cross recently received a boost of funds from BC Hydro employees and retirees to ensure the medical equipment needs of northern BC residents are being met. This recent pledge of $3,000 over the next three years from the BC Hydro Employees’ Community Service Fund (Hydrecs) is in addition to the $12,000 they contributed in 2004 to help improve and expand the Medical Equipment Loan Service Centre in Prince George.
Each year in northern BC and the Yukon, Red Cross provides the short-term loan of clean, safe medical equipment to more than 4,200 people of all ages who are living in their homes and recovering from injury, illness or surgery. Last year, over 6,890 pieces of equipment were loaned out across the region.
