Dan George, head of the 1^St Nations Beetle Initiative says the 1^st nations of the province are trying to put forward a more collective agenda when it comes to looking a the problems faced by the mountain pine beetle.

If you look at what is taking place he said there are five different groups looking at the problems associated with the beetle epidemic.

Many of us , who have been involved in Land Claims negotiations,  have had to change our approach in the negotiations , because we see a land mass radically different in the future.

We are looking to provide long term jobs for our people in our communities,  and we want to share in the wealth of the new resources being developed in this province.

The 1^St Nations Beetle Initiative has been singled out by many,as the group , who have accomplished the most in the plans to address the problem.

George is recognized by most in attendance as the man who brings the most to the problem.
