It was  fitting a city with many loyal BC Lion fans was the final stop on the 14-city tour of the Grey Cup. The Lions and BC government made the tour possible with Prince George and Vanderhoof the final destinations to view the Grey Cup. One of the high school visits in Prince George took on extra significance for a group of students. The 3-time defending city high school football champs from College Heights Secondary were reunited to get their picture with the Grey Cup

“It’s absolutely cool,” said grade 11 student and offensive tackle Chris Peterson.

“I never thought the Grey Cup would come here.”

For 35 year-old Grant Erickson, the coach of the College Heights football team, it was a chance to relive some childhood memories.

“This is awesome,” Erickson said. “I have seen the Lions win all their Grey Cups, except of course the one in 1964, I wasn’t born yet.”

Oh, in a piece of irony football fans would appreciate. Duchess Park, the team College Heights beat for the City title, is coached by Matt Pearce, who has his name on the Grey Cup when he won the CFL championship with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
