St. Arnaud Coroner's Inquest Set To Start

 It has been more than two years since Kevin St. Arnaud was shot to death by police near Vanderhoof.  An unarmed  robbery suspect, St. Arnaud was shot death December 19th 2004.

Today, the  Coroner’s inquest into St. Arnaud’s death begins.

The Coroner’s inquest  will get underway  at the Vanderhoof Courthouse at 9:30 this morning. Presiding Coroner, Shane DeMeyer wand a five person jury will hear evidence from subpoenaed witnesses in order to determine the facts surrounding the death.  The jury cannot assess blame, but will have the opportunity to make recommendations aimed at preventing  deaths under similar circumstances in the future.  

The proceedings are set for today, tomorrow,  the 23rd through 26th, resuming Monday the 29th  and carrying through to the 31st.
