Three homes on Berwick Crescent in the Hart had to be evacuated this evening when a natural gas line was ruptured.

Officials said they got the call just after 7:00 p.m. after a snowmobile had clipped the gas connection at the meter on the side of the home.

No one hurt, but officials were quick to  seal off the area, and have the  homes on either side of the damaged house evacuated.  Terasen gas crews joined fire and rescue  workers to measure  gas levels near the rupture.

The residents of the home and the neighbours were given the "all clear" to return to their homes when  it was clear the gas was disipating rapidly.  "The good thing about natural gas" said one fire official,  "is that it’s going straight up."
