Prince George Leisure Services Manager Tom Madden  says it will likely be March before there is any decision on what to do about management at CN Centre.

Madden has been looking after the operations since Diane Rogers and  Phil Beaulieu  parted ways with the City in the wake of the mushy ice incident which caused the suspension of a Cougars game.

"There are a number of options that are being explored" says Madden, including the possibility of handing the  responsibilities over to someone already within the  organization.

He expects to make a recommendation to Council following the budget process.

It looks like we never did need those managers. That's a lot of wasted money over the years.

How many more managers don't we need?
I can think of at least one more there bohemian...

But having to deal with the cougars and their so called management could be good reason to not apply for the job....not my idea of a good legacy
If it has a new manager , he/she should also be able to keep the ice perfect etc. all on their own.
Its one buiding.....not 50 buildings.
A manager should also be the only employee, and see to its daily upkeep.
If a special project needed to be done such as say a new room built, or a kitchen wired in, then sure contract that out.
But general duties could be easily one person.
And say have one janitor on staf to clean it as well.
Anything to do with government has a ridiculous amount of waste.
My 2 cents
I think that they are looking at reducing the cost of running this facility. Its costs taxpayers about $350,000.00 per year to operate, and these costs have been rising as Couger Game attendence has been falling. The City collect 12.5% of the gross ticket sales for Couger games, so in rough figures using a yearly average of 3000 fans per game they would collect about $5000.00 per game or $160,000.00 per year. Not much for 32 Games.

I would assume that by not filling the two jobs they could save $200,000.00 per year Salaries, and benefits.

I guess all will be made clear in the new year.
Let CN pay for it....
maybe they can keep it on the tracks...lol
Right on, it is the CN Centre .... nice gift.

There are outstanding loans on that building for which we pay around 8% interest according to the Annual Report. We pay till 2015 on average. The total payment each year on P&I is about $1.75 million. The interst rate sounds very high. Haven't got the faintest clue why it is that high.

So it must have been amortized over 25 or so years, at which time it needs to be imploded so that we can continue to borrow and pay interest.
