Didn't he just get back from Italy? or was it Paris?

Guy can't take a hint! Fix the roads, no want's to tax us more. He will be in the Provincial Liberal race pretty soon.
I didn't think there was any land around here left to sell to the offshore investor. They buy up any land that has no development on it. These type investors are not interested in building assets in our economy or hiring anybody. They just find vacant land irresistible for some reason. Low taxes I guess, if you build or improve you pay.
Isn't this China vacation a reward for coming up with an elegant solution to the bad roads problem by simply dinging us with a 4% hike in property taxes?

Is he taking some other councillors along, like the ones who helped him dream up the 4% scheme?
Alberta has just announced an additional 4 upgrader plants for their tar sands project. That will add another 100,000 barrels per day each to the capacity. They are also looking at a plant in Sarnia, Ontario.

Since we have a plant here, I would not be surprised if he is on his way to China with Jimmy to talk to the Chinese about putting an upgrader plant in the Salmon Valley area where Jimmy is reported to have bought some investment property.

What fables have others heard? :-)
Heard from a city employee Jimmy bought a chunk of land near the airport, and even the Moffat ranch-or farm-or whatever it was? Some people scoffed at those rumors, but I do not think for one minute he did not invest a fair amount of money into the purchase of property in this area. After all, he is far better informed than the general public. As we all know-it takes money to make money, so when you get right down to it-the majority of the public could hardly be considered a threat! Just keep them hyped up enough that they don't pull out to Alberta.
Works every time.
Maybe china will pay to fix the roads, bridge, deal with the crime rates and homeless rates, repair our dying parks. Wait a second is that THE MAYOR'S JOB.
Maybe China can send us one of their mayors for a visit. And hope he don't defect. Remembering that a small town in China is two million people. Better roads too, I bet.
Maybe if we find out who the mayor's travel agent is, we can run him/her out of town on a rail and stop this mayor/tourism cost to the taxpayers..
I saw the enemy and they are us. Just remember who it was exactly who elected our mayor cum world vacationer FOUR TIMES!!! somebody must have voted for this light weight.
Not I postman....and have been very vocal about it...
not gonna vote for his @(( this time either... and i am going to email him as such...again!
Nor did I! Nor will I!
So how many "slow learners" will vote for him again should he decide he is up to the insults of so many?
He must be damn thick skinned-but then the pay and holidays must have a great deal of appeal-as he is facing the old age pension soon I would imagine-and he will not want to lower his standard of living.
Amazing he did not broadcast this trip to China was in the works.
He really should have taken the new city manager. Has to be broken in to living out of suitcases somewhere along the line. It's a big world-take a while to see it all. Have to imbibe a lot to keep up the pace.
Must be nice!
What do you mean "if" he runs again? Would you quit a job with as many perks? He got to go to the olympics under the guise of figuring out how to profit from 2010 and he goes to China to quote "try to get evey chinese person to buy a 2x4" nice of the taxpayers to do Canfor's marketing. Also, I love the olympics, there is nothing more moving than seeing someone accomplish something as great as winning a Gold Medal but the only thing we are going to get from the olympics is a bill.
I didn't think that the Mayor would skip town when the three public consultation sessions on the Road Rehabilitation funding proposal are scheduled for the Civic Centre on Tuesday, January 30th, January 31st and February 1st.

He won't be back, by then, obviously. But, it may have been carefully planned that way so he won't have to face the angry crowd. Some of the negativity might rub off on him and have an effect on the next race for mayor.

Better safe than sorry. Politics. Out of sight - out of mind!

My guess that his Worship does not travel alone. So, who else likes to party? Chester
