It is getting down to crunch time.  100 days to go before Prince George is host to the Royal Bank Cup, the  Junior A Hockey Championship.

WIth all the planning that’s been going on,  Host Committee Co-Chair, Dan Rogers says it’s exciting to start counting down the days, not just months or years.

Close to 1000 tickets have already been sold and the balance of tickets is expected to go fast as the hockey season winds down.

Some other key planning  planks that are already in place include:

  • Ryan Walter confirmed as the guest speaker at the Awards Banquet
  • 10 major local sponsorships have been secured, totalling about $335,000
  • Recruit volunteers to fill key roles on the Host Committee
  • Fundraising dinner and silent auction planned for March 10
  • Successful ticket sale contest in December

"The committee has worked extremely hard in planning for the 2007 Royal Bank Cup, and the next 100 days will see us work even harder as we begin to actively recruit more sponsors, volunteers, promote corporate and individual ticket sales and continue to work to build the excitement in the community about hosting this event," says Rogers.

Watch for news of a public briefing session for those who have signed up to volunteer and those who are interested in volunteering.

The Championship will take place in P.G. from the 5th to 13th of May.  The Sprucekings are the host team

IMO if the city fills the stands supporting the Spruce Kings for this event we will be better positioned as a hockey a town, and mayby, just mayby, if we are lucky, the WHL will realize it is the ownership of the Cougers and not the fans that are the problem here in PG.
