The Salmon Valley Curling Club Society has been awarded $25-hundred dollar from the B.C. government’s Olympic/Paralympic Live Sites Fund.

The society plans to use the money to help purchase a new plasma television and theatre sound system for the small community rink, just north of Prince George.

"The purpose of the funding is to provide the curling club with the equipment it needs to become an Olympic Viewing area," says Prince George-North MLA Pat Bell, "The new TV and sound system will make the club a great community meeting area."

More details on the program are available through the Ministry of Economic Development website, at http://www.ecdev.gov.bc.ca/ProgramsAndServices/OlympicLiveSites/default.htm

Why not give them another $600,000.00 then they can get a clock. What a what waste of TAXPAYERS MONEY.
"$25-hundred dollar"??? .. As in $2,500???

Is this live site stuff not being broadcast over regular channels? There must be people living there who have better sytems than that in their homes.

If that is good enough for their rink, why is it not good enough for the CN Centre? We could buy one per section. Was that not the purpose of the Provincial funding?
Not bad since it is for free to them!
Do I have to drive my anti-Kyoto SUV to Salmon Valley to watch the Olympics? Must be the season of the moron slowly forming.

You've GOT to be kidding.

Free big screen TV's and surround sound home theatre systems under the guise of 'economic development'?

Who dreams up this crap??

What an absolute embarrassment for Mr. Bell to have to package this stinker for the media.
