RCMP in Fort St. John are crediting an "extensive and coordinated investigation" with the arrest of a murder suspect in Manitoba over the weekend.
29-year-old Leonard Freedom Ballantyne was arrested by members of the North District Major Crime Unit in Headingly, Manitoba on Sunday.
Ballantyne was charged with first degree murder and remanded in custody. He's in the process of being transferred to Fort St. John, where he's due to appear in court on Friday.
The first degree murder charge stems from a shooting incident in Fort St. John back on September 12th. The victim, 27-year-old Neil McNamara, was found suffering from gunshot wounds and later died in hospital.
