2007 Spirit of BC Week was launched at the Railway Museum last night
The 3rd Annual Spirit of BC Week runs through to next Saturday, February 17th.
The goal of ’Spirit’ week is to profile local programs and services that strengthen sport and recreation, healthy living, arts and culture, and literacy and volunteerism in Prince George.
Local Community Committee spokesperson, Mary Graydon, says the week was launched provincially three years ago as a countdown to the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver-Whistler, but she says it’s become much more.
Some of the events in our city this week include:
- the library’s "Go for the Gold: Spirit of BC Reading Relay" where all books checked out will be counted and the distance calculated as to how far they would stretch if laid end-to-end
- there’s also free public swims at both city pools between 4pm and 6pm this afternoon
- a free, drop-in family event at the library on Saturday, February 17th between 2pm and 4pm
- and Exploration Place will host outdoor activities for the whole family and fire works next Saturday between 4pm and 6:30pm.

Move to a community that has "fresh" air. Now that is what I call contributing to good health.
The rest is just a bunch of hogwash. We sure need fireworks. Who thinks all this up? Boost the library-save a buck swimming, build a snowman-family activity.
Who funds this so called "Spirit" week?
