Sign at Ice Oval awaits participants in ultimate winter challenge

The ice oval is ready to go, for that matter the entire course is race ready. The Prince George Iceman awaits over 500 hundred participants Sunday. The very first Iceman, 20 years ago, attracted 58 entrants. Temperatures plunged to -25 that day.

The forecast is a more reasonable -7 for the 20th annual Iceman relay. The cross country ski-run-skate-run-swim event starts at 10am at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Centre. The solo competitor must ski two 4km laps of the Otway trails, run 10km from the Otway trails to the ice oval, skate 5km, and then run 5km before completing the Iceman with an 800m swim at the Prince George Aquatic Centre.

At the registration deadline, 70 individuals and 110 teams had entered what is known as the ultimate winter challenge.
