In the run up to next month's provincial government-sponsored 'Conversation on Health' in Prince George, city residents are being invited to 'Talking Health Care' this evening.

Tonight's public forum at the Ramada is being co-hosted by the Prince George and District Labour Council and the B.C. Government and Service Employees' Union.

BCGEU spokesperson, Brian Gardner, says the privatization of health care in B.C. will be on the agenda.  "Obviously, that's going to come up.  I think there's a feeling amongst people that the 'Conversation on Health' being promoted by the Liberal government is really softening the ground for more privatization in the health care system," says Gardner, "That's going to be part of the debate - how much is too much."

He says there will be a panel at tonight's gathering, those on the panel will make some comments and help guide discussion, but Gardner says there will be lots of opportunity for people to get up and say what they'd like.

He says the BCGEU plans to use the feedback from tonight's meeting in its ongoing discussions with the provincial government.  The union will also decide, based on response in Prince George, whether there's a need to host similar forums in other parts of the province.

Registration goes at 5:30pm at the door, with the forum set to run between 6pm and 9pm.

I hope a few of them saw the T V program where it was disclosed it costs the Health system OVER "ONE BILLION" dollars a year due to the spread of disease for the lack of hand washing between attending to patients by Doctors and nurses.
They freely move from one patient to another, and they are freely moving bacteria from one patient to another.
I see the filth in hospitals, as the cleaning staff appear to be poorly trained, wiping seats of chairs and moving the cloth to the table food trays are placed on. Filthy wheelchairs transfer from one patient to another. I ran my finger across a picture in the day care waiting room, and the dust was so thick it dispersed off the end of the frame. There was a mat in there that was so dirty and stained it was disgusting.
And all this in a hospital, caring for the sick and those susceptible to further illnesses.
Pay attention when you go visit a patient.
You might notice the lack of cleanliness.
A shiny mopped floor does not tell it all!
