Briefing On Mayor's China Trip Later Today

Prince George Mayor Colin Kinsley and members of Initiatives Prince George will gather in the second floor conference room in City Hall later this morning for a media briefing session to unveil full details of a recent trip to the Asian Winter Games in Changchun, China.
The Mayor and IPG's Virginia Sprangers returned from the eight-day junket last Monday and had originally planned to hold a briefing session on Tuesday or Wednesday, but it was put off until today.
At Wednesday's city budget meeting, Mayor Kinsley said the extra time was to allow staff to put together contact names. He said there had been some e-mailing going back and forth with officials in China - a couple of interests that the Chinese wanted referred right away.
Asked if there was something positive to come out of the trip, the Mayor said he felt there was, and not just with sports training initiatives either. He said the more immediate requests have had to do with business and transportation.
Cost of the trip? Kinsley said, "I was told it was anywhere from 25-hundred (dollars) to four-thousand, but I have no idea. I guess it depends on when all the costs are in."
