If she sticks with tradition, BC Liberal Finance Minister Carole Taylor will don a new pair of shoes today to deliver the 2007 provincial budget.
Taylor is scheduled to rise in the Legislature in Victoria at 2:45pm this afternoon to announce the government's financial plans and priorities for the coming year.
The B.C. office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives says the province is set to finish the 2006-2007 fiscal year with a substantial surplus in the range of $3.3-billion dollars. The CCPA is calling on the Liberals to "tackle the issues of poverty and homelessness boldly and comprehensively if we are to see a substantial improvement before the province hosts the 2010 Winter Olympics."
Back on January 24th, Taylor announced that an additional $885-million dollars in funding for health-care would be included in the 2007-08 fiscal year.
