Emergency crews were on standby at the Prince George Airport this morning, after receiving reports of a small plane coming in with potential landing gear problems.

The Airport Authority's Manager of Programs and Planning, Todd Doherty, says the twin-engine Navajo with two people on-board radioed in at around ten this morning that an indicator light was warning the main landing gear was down, but not locked.

The Canadian Air Charters' plane was en route from Vancouver to Prince George.  Doherty says normal emergency procedures were activated at the airport, with Prince George Fire Rescue, RCMP and emergency services called to the scene.

"The aircraft made a number of passes over the terminal and tower area to visually verify that the landing gear was down," he says, "The aircraft then spent some time burning fuel and made a safe landing (at 10:45am)."

Doherty says the Navajo was towed into a maintenance hangar, where it's now being looked at to try to determine what, if anything, was wrong.  In cases like this, the information is forwarded to the Transportation Safety Board, but no further follow-up is required.
