Prince George RCMP were called to Walmart this afternoon over a report of a robbery in progress...

Police says a suspect was taking some property from the store, when he was stopped by Walmart employees.  It was at that point, the male suspect became combative and during the ensuing fight produced a weapon.

Constable Michael Hansen says one of the store employees received minor injuries during the scuffle.

A Police Dog Services Unit was called in and the suspect was tracked for a ways before the scent was lost.

The suspect is described as a first nations male in his early 20's, five-feet-nine inches tall, and 200-pounds.  He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a brown mesh ball cap.

It was earlier this month that a Loss Prevention Officer at Walmart was injured during a confrontation with a shoplifter who produced a syringe.  Prince George RCMP officers, with guns drawn, arrested a pair of suspects in connection with that incident, several hours later in the parking lot at Parkwood Mall.

Don`t even go there, please!
Walmart better look into paying "danger pay" for employees who take it upon themselves to confront some people who obviously aren't quite clear on the biblical concept re: Thou shalt not steal. Aye. There's the rub.
....And people are afraid to shop downtown because of the violence??? Hhhmmmmm...
It doesn't matter where you go these days there are purse-snatchings, panhandling, and robberies with syringes.
Hopefully, a person staying alert enough to avoid these situations is enough.
Don't get me wrong, I am female and not afraid to go anywhere, but all of this has certainly made me more aware of my surroundings and people who are around me.
PG is becoming a big city, with big city problems.
Native? Must be the governments fault.
Five-feet-nine inches tall, in early twenties? Sounds a little under fed, maybe the government is starving their wards of the state? HeeHee!
Was he stealing to fill his traditional ancestral needs? Look over by the Fraser River bridge, maybe he is stashing his loot over there? HeeHee!
jcic .....

Walked out of Tonics in Kelowna last night and there were "homeless"in entrance alcoves on both sides of the street on our way to the car.

Despite that, the downtown "backstreet" restaurant was packed, as was Barnard St. filled with parked cars on both sides of the street.

The "cultural district", on the other hand, was rather empty (including the many parking lots) for a Saturday night in February, other than the people milling around Flashbacks Nightclub in the old cannery building built in 1912.

The casino, I am sure, was in use, but since there is a parkade, it was difficult to tell how many were inside the building.

The Vernon Centre for the Performing Arts, (also associated with sports facilities in the park to the west of the downtown) on the other hand, was playing host to the latest version of the Platters and the Inkspots at $45 or so per seat.
The piece on the other altercation does not identify the perps as First Nations.

Thus my mini survey shows that two out of three perps at Walmart in PG are white.

But hey, let's focus on the FN because they are so much fun to pick on.

Hey Yama Doo...As defined by the Oxford English Dictionary Racism-The theory that distinctive human characteristics and abilities are determined by race.

“Let us all hope that the dark clouds of racial prejudice will soon pass away, and that in some not too distant tomorrow the radiant stars of love and brotherhood will shine over our great nation with all their scintillating beauty.” Martin Luther King Jr.

I keep my ideals, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. Anne Frank

Blessing
To this end, my fathers,
My mothers,
My children:
May you be blessed with light;
May your roads be fulfilled;
May you grow old;
May you be blessed in the chase.

angelstear, I agree with you. These racist statements should be filtered out and not remain posted permanently.

everyone is entitled to an opinion, some opinions are just not shared by others. Some opinions seem to come from small minds, while others seem well thought out and educated.

Racism is all around us, it always will be. Until the day people are treated as individuals, each responsible for their own behaviour and choices. Each made to pay for their own mistakes and not be allowed to blame their ancestry.

"Aboriginal Youth Services" is that a service for aboriginal youths? or an aboriginal service for youths? Any aboriginal youth worker will be the first to admit that First Nations people have alcohol and drug problems, they are theives, they neglect their children. How many "non aboriginal" services prominently display that admission about "their folk"?

Society is full of thieves, alcoholics, drug addicts, children who suffer with ADDS and FAS, what most people fail to realize is that, they come in every creed and color. To blame it's existence on a percentage being more one color or race than another is fruitless and a waste of valuable time, money, and energy.
