The dates have been set for the balloting on the Lheidli T’enneh Treaty and there is no shortage of opportunity for eligible voters to cast a ballot.
Ballots can be cast in Prince George at the Native Friendship Centre on three days: the 17th, 29th and 30th of March. Ballots can also be cast on the 27th of March at the Nisga’a offices in Prince Rupert, and on the 28th of March at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre.
Eligible voters will face two questions:
1. Do you approve the Lheidli T’enneh final agreement initialed October 29th 2006? and
2. Do you approve the Constitution of Lheidli T’enneh dated January 30, 2007?
All polls are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Lheidli T’enneh Band Council has set an acceptance threshold of 70% saying anything less would mean the treaty has been rejected.
